*For rucking participants, packs must be weighed by UltraTrek staff the morning of the race to qualify for official entry.

WHAT IS RUCKING?

“Cardio for people who don't like other forms of cardio”

WHY RUCK?

  • It's simple and anyone can do it

  • Builds muscle through active resistance training

  • Burns up to 3x more calories than walking

  • Great for your back and improves posture

  • Faster recovery through efficient Zone 2 workout

HOW DO I RUCK?

It’s very easy. Just grab a backpack, add weight, and start walking. While you can purchase weighted plates designed specifically for rucking, we also recommend using bags of sand, rice, books or even wood pellets as an affordable alternative.

Rucking involves walking while carrying a weighted vest or backpack, also known as a 'ruck.'

TRAINING GUIDELINES

UltraTrek is a walking event, making it accessible to most people who want to take on a fitness challenge. You don’t need to be a seasoned athlete to participate—most of your training can come from simply adding a few more miles or Zone 2 cardio into your daily routine. For those in search of a training program, recommended schedules are below:

FUEL

At UltraTrek, we believe food is medicine, which is why we provide only the highest quality food and drinks made with super clean ingredients and no artificial preservatives.

Aid stations will be located every 2.5 miles along the course. Each will provide a mix of water, electrolyte and snack options.

OUR MISSION

UltraTrek is committed to making a positive impact beyond its events. We believe physical movement in nature has the power to transform, inspire, strengthen, and foster connection on a deeper level. That's why a portion of all proceeds goes to the Conservation Lands Foundation and a local organization that works to preserve open space near each event.
